Although the link had led to http://www.tsurinews.co.jp/templates_c/myaccess.online/Access.htm, I suppose that's where Maybank has its website at. After all, it has branches overseas, and the title is "maybank2u.com". So I entered my Username of matcendana and Password, cendana287. This page came up, asking for the TAC:
Then, the bank helpfully informed me that its security team will verify what I had given out and send a confirmation email. It also warned me not to Log In to my account until I had received the email. Okay, they must have very important reasons - doing so might interrupt their computers or something, and I might get sued!
But don't worry about my RM945K - I had also received another email from AHMED MUSA DELIMAH. He's an auditor at the Bank of Africa in Burkina-Faso, and he wants my help to transfer US$9.6 million - that's almost RM30 million...

Thought you would be a bit more careful like running the mouse cursor on the address and see which site it will go before clicking.
Do this on any link which has "money elements", be it financial institutions or credits cards etc.
I have had numerous of such emails like yours, and each time I received I forwarded it to the Maybank security center. Of course the email were "phising" emails but they will trace down the link to do the necessary things (of course it may be a never ending affair). If you use Mozilla firefox as a browser, do search it's add on - there is an anti-phising ("DontPhish Me") add-on developed by MYCERT, customized for Malaysians.
Because of all these, I never sign up for an internet banking. Being pressured to do so. I had no choice but to do some credit card transactions over the net nowadays. Otherwise, how would I bought cheap flight tickets for example? If I had a choice, I would not want to do any financial transactions over the net.
Which come to one point. They (whoever they are) should give free usage and update license for all original and prominent virus, anti spam, anti spy, anti phising programs etc if they somehow "force" us to do the transactions over the net. Otherwise, they shall be fully responsible for the case like yours.
and one more thing, just delete all the email which you dont recognise the sender and/or the title of email is nothing of your business. Delete it before clicking it to open.
If you accidentally delete a genuine email, if it is important, just hope the other end will email it back you.
Safer this way.
I even received a very convincing traditional mail, complete with all the details. The one which would make the eyes bulge in no time. But then again, after keeping it for few days, I decided to throw it in the dustbin.

just be careful of another scam; MBF credit card scam..
2 days ago i received a call from 03-21698888, a very nice number.The caller informed me that he called to inform me whether I have requested for my MBF credit limit to be increased..I said no. He queried whether my name is so and so..and my ic is so and so..and my credit card number is so and so..The name and ic number matched but not the credit card..The caller informed me that myself could be a victim of credit card fraud and suggested me to report directly to Bank Negara, by calling a number 03216XXX.The caller gave all the details for me to report.
Out of curiosity I called back 03-21698888 , no ringing tone..I called the official MBF credit card centre and they informed me this is a fraud attempt as my credit card account is in order.
If we call the fake Bank Negara number, the fake bank negara officer will request all the details about our banks ,the pin, our credit card number and within 3 days the officer requested us not to go to the bank as he need to update the information in the banking system.
Lucky for me that I had check with the official MBF card centre..If out of fear if I had call the fake Bank Negara, I am sure I will be a victim to this credit card scam.
Kenn - yeah, usually Firefox issued a warning whenever I clicked on the link. I like to kacau these scammers with "my login info":-) But this one must be very new - Firefox was quiet. Oh, I forgot - I don't even have an account at Maybank. Sure wish I had RM945K though.
